Drinks that make you look younger

Here are some fantastic homemade beverages that help you achieve that youthful glow you thought only existed in a cream.

We all seek it and have been for thousands of years. The supposed fountain of youth promises just that: youthfulness, which means supple and taut skin and a glowing appearance that announces our presence long before we have said a word. Single, married or divorced, all women love to turn heads and feel appreciated for their beauty. Whether you achieve it with make-up, eating healthfully or sweating out toxins, one thing most of us can agree on is that we love having beautiful, younger looking skin. Here are some fantastic new drinks that may help you achieve that youthful glow you’ve thought only existed in a cream.

Tea to Blast Away Wrinkles
We’re conditioned to believe that the only things that beat wrinkles and fine lines are found in tubes and googobs of ointments. What if tea did for you what creams have long promised? Not green, black or oolong, this tea will hydrate your skin, which is necessary to fight the wrinkles that are inevitable as you age. Ginger and cayenne, for improved digestion and circulation, will flush out toxins faster than any cream can cover what’s always going to be there. All you need are:

  • 1 piece of ginger – peeled and then sliced
  • 1 ½ cups of filtered water, boiled
  • Half a lemon, juiced
  • Two cayenne peppers (more or less for taste, cayenne is HOT!)
  • Sugar substitute

In a saucepan, bring water to boil. Add ginger slices, let sit for five minutes. Pour into a mug and cool to your liking. Add the lemon and cayenne. Blend and finally add the sweetener to taste.

Chia Seeds: Good for the Chia Pet, Good for Your Hair
Packed with protein, antioxidants, omega-3, essential vitamins, fibre and minerals, can you imagine how your hair will feel after drinking a Chia shake?

  • 2 cups of unsweetened soy or almond milk
  • 2 tablespoons of Chia seeds (Chia pet not included)
  • ½ of a teaspoon of cinnamon
  • Sugar substitute

In a tall glass or pitcher, blend your Chia seeds with your milk, using a wooden spoon. Allow to sit for approximately 15 minutes so the seeds can absorb the milk, which will create a gel. Add the cinnamon and sweetener to taste and drink. Delicious for you and excellent for your hair. Don’t mind the green appearance. That’s nature not food colouring.

Green Smoothie
As the name implies, this smoothie is packed full of nothing but greens and a couple yellows! Vitamins, minerals and antioxidants will leave you feeling great and your skin radiant!

  • 12 ounces of filtered water
  • 1 head of romaine lettuce, chopped
  • 2 stalks of celery
  • 7 cups of spinach leaves (fresh is best) chopped
  • 1 pear or apple (be adventurous, add both!)
  • 1 banana (sliced, of course)
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice

In your blender or juicer, combine water and lettuce. On low speed, blend until smooth. Slowly increase the speed, and then add the celery and pear or apple. Add the spinach and then the banana and then the lemon juice.
