Why is there a popping sound when a joint is adjusted?

Get the facts about why you hear a “pop” when getting adjusted

When a fixated or stuck joint is adjusted, there is a change of pressure and a gas bubble is released causing the audible “pop” that you hear. However, it should be noted that audible “pops” are not required or mandatory in order to have a joint adjusted. There are many techniques within the chiropractic profession that accomplish spinal re-alignment without requiring audible “pops” or “cracks”. When looking for a chiropractor for your health care needs, do not be afraid to ask about the techniques they use and choose one that is right for you.
