Cold and Flu... What is it? What should I do?

Cold and Flu, what to do...

Colds and flu's are seasonal upper respiratory infection that peak in the fall and through the winter and early spring but really can occur at any time during the year. As most people know, the symptoms can be quite debilitating. This is also one of the top reasons people miss work, school and other social events.

A typical cold or flu can be expected to last 3-5 days but can persist for up to 7-10 days. Antibiotics do not work for the common cold or flu to either reduce the severity or duration of illness. However, if one's immune system is low performing, I can sometimes give a prescription for patients and clients to hold and to fill if not better after home remedy with Vick's vapor rub on the chest, Buckley's, Fisherman's oil, Advil cold and sinus or steam inhalation with essential oils like eucalyptus, oil of Oregano.
