What is chronic fatigue syndrome?

Chronic fatigue syndrome is a debilitating and complex disorder. Symptoms affect several body systems and may include weakness, muscle pain, impaired mental concentration, exercise intolerance and insomnia. Previously pleasurable activities such as social outings and basic daily activities often become severely reduced or stopped all together.
For many people, eating healthier, getting more sleep, and exercising regularly will improve symptoms of fatigue. But for some, these positive health changes are not enough to restore and revitalize their body. When fatigue becomes daily and unrelenting despite adequate rest, it is called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). CFS is a nearly constant state of exhaustion that develops over time and diminishes physical and mental energy. The Naturopathic Doctors at Health Momentum understand the suffering of those who have chronic fatigue and specialize in natural therapies that heal, recharge and revitalize the body.

Treating Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome naturally

In a healthy person, energy moves freely throughout energy channels called “meridians” in the body. In the ill person, these channels become blocked. Acupuncture works to restore health by improving the natural flow and balance among these pathways.

Anti-inflammatory herbs/vitamins:

Professionally prescribed natural supplements can be very effective for reducing pain and inflammation in the muscles and joints of the body. All the professional supplements prescribed by Naturopathic Doctors at Health Momentum have undergone rigorous quality control. These supplements are therefore more effective at bringing symptom relief especially in pain management.

Mindfulness based techniques on pain management:

Mindfulness meditation promotes awareness, decreases repetitive and unproductive thoughts and enhances overall capacity for healing. It is a highly effective practice for chronic pain because it helps the sufferer work with pain from a totally different and more effective vantage point. All naturopathic doctors at Health Momentum are trained in Mindfulness based techniques for managing all types of pain conditions ranging from mild to debilitating symptoms.

Diet and Nutrition:

Good nutrition is the foundation for all health concerns and lasting wellness. What we put into our bodies on a regular basis provides the building blocks for our cells and tissues. The naturopathic doctors at Health Momentum can create a menu plan that is nutritious, enjoyable and realistic for any busy schedule.

Treating Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome with Osteopathy

The osteopathic practitioner at Health Momentum is able to assess if poor alignment of the skeleton may be contributing to chronic pain or low energy. Osteopathy can help to decrease the sensations of pain experienced by the individual, and helps to bring a sense of peace, ease and relaxation to a client experiencing discomfort.

Treating Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome with Registered Massage Therapy

The therapeutic, deep release that occurs during massage, benefits the body on many different levels. Massage helps to break down muscle tension and calcifications, or scar tissue that might be at the root of physical discomfort. Massage also goes beyond simple muscle relaxation and increases blood flow, lymphatic drainage and toxin removal.
