One of the main struggles I hear about when it comes to my clients switching to a healthier eating regimen, is that they have a hard time incorporating it into their busy lifestyles and various schedules.
I have devised several easy tricks that I myself use on a daily basis to make sure that I’ve always got healthy options at the ready, no matter how busy things seem to get!
It is absolutely imperative that you set aside some time to prep. Even if you do this while you are watching TV, etc.
It doesn’t take very long, can be done only once a week, and will ensure that you’ve always got your healthy eating in place regardless of your lifestyle. Carve out an hour, or even a few minutes here and there to prep.
I will boil an entire carton and leave them in the fridge for an easy grab and go snack or quick breakfast/lunch addition. Leaving them in the shells until eaten will ensure they last longer.
I will cook up some chicken breasts or steaks. Cut them into strips and they make an easy stir fry or salad addition that can be quickly thrown together.
Believe it or not, I will even use these as a snack sometimes on the busier days.
Chop up some veggies and leave them in the fridge in containers. In this way they also make quick and easy additions to stir fries, salads, other meals and also are great grab and go snacks!
Be sure to always keep fresh fruit in a bowl on the table or counter. This is excellent for grab and go, are a great addition to any lunch and take absolutely zero time to prepare.
I will even grab an avocado to eat on the go, just bring a bag for the garbage left behind.
Let the crockpot do the cooking for you!
Make a large chilli, or other meal in your crockpot. Portion it out into containers for the fridge and voila! You’ve got healthy pre-made meals that you can take with you, or have at home for quick and easy meals.
I will make a tray of no-bake protein bars and also leave those in the fridge so that you can have something else that’s delicious, feels like a treat and yet is still healthy and quick to grab.
The no bake recipes make things much easier and less time consuming.
With just a little time carve out to prep these easy ideas, you will always have healthy choices to eat in times of hunger and when life gets busy!
These are also great ideas for kids and their own busy lives as well!
