Looking for ways to keep fit this fall? Here are some great activities where you can enjoy the autumn weather while staying active.

The onset of autumn is marked by cooler temperatures, shorter days, early sunsets and of course nature's grand colour display- the autumn tree leaf change. The fall season lets you feel the clean, cool crisp air on your skin and experience canopies of red, gold, and orange. The end of summer, however, does not signify the end of outdoor play. Autumn provides opportunities for family fitness and outdoor excursions. Here are a few activities that you can indulge in with your family and friends to get some exercise and have fun. Rowing, Canoeing, and Kayaking
Rowing and kayaking can be great fun with your family and friends. If you live near a lake, ocean or river, then this exercise is great at providing upper body strength, lower body workout and cardio. Depending on the intensity, you can burn 413 to 561 calories per hour for rowing and 295 calories per hour for kayaking.

Horseback Riding
Horseback riding is not only fun because you get to see the countryside and feel closer to nature, but it lets you cowgirls burn some serious calories.  A horseback ride is good at providing lower body strength by exercising the inner thighs. With general riding, you can burn 236 calories per hour and 472 calories for racing.

Cleaning up the yard
During the fall, trees lose their leaves and our yards are littered with colorful foliage. Raking leaves is not only fun when you do it with your family, but you can get a good cardio workout too. Not only this, it also works your upper body and you can burn up to 266 calories per hour.

Hit the Trails
Autumn brings the amazing vivid colors of fall leaves and is a perfect time to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and explore parks, trails, and other local scenery.  Make sure you choose a trail that is not too strenuous if you are bringing the kids along. With hiking and rock climbing, it is not just the crisp air you enjoy, but it provides a full body workout including cardio. You can burn 354 calories per hour during a hike.

Biking
The fall is perfect for hitting the bike trails rather than being stuck working out inside the gym. Biking is low impact and can almost be done by everyone. In fact, cycling for an hour at a moderate rate burns close to 475 calories.

Go for a walk
We all know that taking a walk is an exercise that can be done in any season. With cooler temperatures and picturesque foliage, you can enjoy it even more. It is a great time to bond with your family and you can take your pets along too. With walking, you can burn 132 calories each hour.
