With summer just around the corner, many people begin to give a lot of thought to getting in shape. After a season of winter comfort foods and hibernation, some look in the mirror and wonder how they didn’t see it happening. Yet, shaping up isn’t only about working out and getting your body tuned up. You have to get the whole package together if you want to be feeling good by the time the summer heat hits.
One of the easiest ways to start shaping up in the spring is to change your eating habits. Spring is the perfect season to start eating fresh fruits and vegetables; especially since this is the season when your favourites are more likely to be at their best. This will help you begin to cleanse your body of all of the “oh so toxic” things you have been feeding it throughout the winter. In addition, increase your water intake.
Exercise may not be very appealing to some, but it’s necessary. However, it doesn’t have to be as demanding or strenuous as most think. By taking part in 2 to 3 toning routines and 3 cardiovascular workouts each week, you can get results. Believe it or not, even if the workout is only 30 minutes, you’ll see anf feel the benefits.
When you’re shaping up for the summer, you also want to include your skin. Spring is the perfect time to start preparing your skin for the summer. You should begin exfoliating by using body scrubs, mesh sponges or loofahs; especially if you like to show off your legs. Waxing or shaving is a must for your short shorts or skirts. Top it all off with a perfect pedicure. Remember, the worst thing you can ever do is put on open-toe shoes, with your little piggies looking like they’ve been in the slop bucket.
After a long winter, it can be hard to get into the swing of things. To get and stay motivated, maybe you and your girlfriends can begin shaping up together. If you don't enjoy going to a gym, you can take turns working out in each other’s home. Everything is more fun when it’s done with friends or family. As you begin to see the effects, you’ll be motivated to continue the hard work. Remember to always reward yourself for the progress you make.
Your spring shape up isn’t just about getting your body back in shape. It’s about revamping yourself on the inside and out so you feel great in time for the summer season. Not only do you want to look good but you want to feel good as well. Exercising will take care of the outside of your body. Eating right will take care of the inside. Proper grooming will tie the entire package together. In the end, not only will you look fantastic but you’ll feel fantastic too!
