How much is too much exercise?The thing to remember is to stay active, have fun and not over work yourself.
Too much exercise can mean different things for different people. Obviously the higher your fitness level, the longer you can exercise without getting tired. Furthermore, the higher your fitness level, the higher your intensity will most likely be while working out.
According to Health Canada, a person should perform cardio based exercise 4 to 7 days a week and strength training 2 to 4 days a week, for about one hour a day. Of course these times are based on the “average” person. As your fitness level goes up or you find yourself training for an “event” such as a half or full marathon, your training regimen may increase.
The thing to remember is to stay active, have fun and not over work yourself. If you find yourself constantly sore and/or tired from exercising, you may be doing too much.
