From Dramatic Above-Ice Aerials to Chiropractic
In one sense, Dr. Barbara Smith literally “fell” into chiropractic as her chosen career field.
At the age of 9, Barbara decided that she wanted to be a professional figure skater. With her characteristic enthusiasm and determination, she worked hard to develop her skating until, at only seventeen, her dreams were realized when she earned a role in the Ice Capades.
Tragically, Barbara suffered a major fall during one of her shows. While performing a dramatic maneuver forty feet in the air, her safety harness broke and she plummeted to the unforgiving ice below. Thus, her skating career was prematurely terminated.
Fortunately, Barbara’s recuperation and reflection period included an excellent series of chiropractic adjustments which helped her to make a complete physical recovery.
And so, moved by her experiences and sheer determination, the twenty-three-year-old Barbara packed her bags and left for Dalhousie University with the long-term plan of becoming a chiropractor in order to help others just as she had been helped. It was seven years (and much hard work) that later she received her license to practice from the CMCC.

Strengthening and Maintenance Care
Chiropractic Low Force Techiques
This requires a hand held instrument that has been specifically designed to deliver a controlled light thrust. Activator adjustments are specific and suitable for all types of patients ranging from newborns to seniors.
Network Spinal Analysis:
NSA is an exciting, new development in chiropractic associated with long-term benefits in health, emotional state and quality of life. It is a safe, gentle and effective approach for everyone.
Koren Specific Technique:
This is a low force specific technique that gently corrects spinal & structural systems. It also has a protocol for cranial bone adjusting. KST can be used standing, sitting or laying down.
A spinal scan helps us to detect areas of nerve interference. It also allows us to document and monitor your results. These tests do not hurt and do not utilize any needles, electric shock or heat. With spinal scans, you are able to see the changes. It will be easier to understand the amount and type of care you need to benefit long term.
The Gait Scan is a state of the art technology which helps to assess and analyze your feet. It helps to detect abnormal foot alignment and gait issues which could be corrected with custom made orthotics.
