We were so impressed that they had someone there on such short notice, and were able to manage all of our concerns. Our caregiver even made dad laugh – which is hard to do sometimes! Thank you for everything, we would use your service again in a second.” - Karen B.

“Our experience with Home Care Assistance Calgary has been nothing less than exceptional. Our mother had had a couple of falls this spring, resulting in surgery and many months stay in a rehabilitation hospital. Upon her discharge we found that we as a family were at quite a loss as to how to care for her by ourselves. We contacted Chuck and he and his team immediately went to work to design Moms care plan and to match the best caregivers to meet her specific needs. Today, she is post hospital discharge of two months and Mom is recovering well, both physically and with confidence, due to the professional and caring attention provided to her by the Home Care Assistance Calgary nurses. We can’t thank Home Care Assistance Calgary enough!” - Debbie F.

Hourly Home Care

Family members are often the first people seniors turn to when they need assistance with activities of daily living in their homes. While taking on the important role of a family caregiver can be rewarding, the conflicting demands of work, caring for children and also caring for parents sometimes create unmanageable schedules and even stress and burnout.

Personal Assistance

Our caregiving services enable seniors to maintain independence in their own homes by helping with day to day tasks that have become just too difficult for our customers to manage on their own.

We provide that helping hand that keeps seniors engaged and with a sense of control over their lives knowing that they have the support they need without full dependence on family members.

Meal Preparation

Healthy balanced meals are critical to a person’s well-being but unfortunately as the years advance it becomes difficult for seniors to manage shopping, prepping and cooking of meals.

Our Caregivers have Culinary Training. They receive ongoing training in preparing balanced, healthy meals. We take pride in ensuring that our customers enjoy delicious healthy food according to their dietary plan and that they always have a stocked pantry and fridge, even when our caregivers are not there.

Domestic Duties

Our caregivers are caring, responsible adults who in addition to having specific training in housekeeping, have managed households of their own. We find that perfect caregiver that knows how to take care of all the keeps a household running smoothly.

Our caregivers have vehicles and can run errands, grocery shop or accompany our customers on outings.

Seniors want to live in their own homes but they also want to have the freedom to go to activities, shopping, medical appointments. Home Care assistance provides transportation and accompaniment for seniors who have lives outside the home but require a helping hand for transportation and mobility.

Our caregivers are thoroughly vetted and must maintain proper licensing and insurance as well as excellent driving records.

Regular activity and social engagement makes life worth living! Our caregivers help seniors do the things they love in the home and they also accompany them outside the home to see friends, go on errands or just to take in the fresh air at the park.

Our care team pays special attention to matching the right caregiver based on our customer’s preferences and personality. Our caregivers have their own vehicles and must maintain proper licensing and insurance as well as excellent driving records.

Specialized Care

At Home Care Assistance we understand that care requirements can vary greatly depending on the specific physical or mental health limitations of our customer.

Through our unique HCA Match program, we identify the perfectly matched and trained caregiver that can assist the special needs of our customer with professionalism, competence and utmost respect- no matter the challenges the circumstances may pose.

Our services provide peace of mind for families that are already stretched for time, offering flexible care plans, 24/7 response in case of emergencies and a registered nurse that is never far for help when needed.

Dementia-Alzheimer’s Care

For sufferers of Alzheimer’s or Dementia, a structured schedule in a familiar home environment is known to be beneficial, however the disease over time diminishes their ability to manage essential day-to-day tasks independently in their own home.

Our highly trained caregivers provide professional, reliable support for day-to-day activities so your loved ones can live at home safely and enjoy a higher quality of life.

Hospital to Home Care

The period following surgery or a hospital stay is often the determining factor in speed and level of recovery for a patient. Despite the fact that the very first days are the most critical and most debilitating, this is often the time when patients are waiting for help from Alberta Health Services!

Home Care Assistance can step in immediately –from the hospital stay to home, for as long as required. We ensure that you are taken care of when you most need it and provide peace of mind to you and your family. Once public home care is in place you may want to continue our private services for additional support for evenings and weekends, so that you are as comfortable as possible, at all times.

Our care services are flexible and can complement the public system!

In-Residence Care

Services in assisted living facilities sometimes do not cover the hours you need. Home Care Assistance Calgary is there to supplement the care you are already getting or to provide specialized or companionship care that is not available through the assisted living facility.

Our caregivers are available nights and weekends and can provide transportation and accompaniment to medical appointments, activities and shopping. We are there when you need us, on your schedule so that you never have to wait for the help that you need.

Memory Care

Memory Can be Improved & Maintained with the Right Care. Our balanced approach to care would be incomplete without an understanding of the health of the brain in aging adults. As we age our activities and social circles tend to diminish and so does stimulation of cognitive functions. This is why our caregivers are specifically trained in methods of cognitive stimulation for aging adults through fun interactive games and music.

While all our customers benefit from memory enhancing activities with our caregivers at no extra charge, some customers select this type of caregiving exclusively for a few hours a week, in the comfort of their homes. This can include programs such as:

  • Cognitive Therapeutics Program™ - An interactive program promoting mental acuity and staving off cognitive decline through specifically designed games and activities played one-on-one with our trained caregiver.
  • Music & Memory Program®  - We are a proudly certified Music and Memory organization – an innovative approach to introducing music in seniors’ lives to reduce anxiety, alleviate pain and enhance cognitive functions.

In-Home Palliative Care Support for Families

For seniors nearing end of life, the comfort and familiarity of their own home is where they want to be. Home represents a safe space filled with memories and is a private place where family, friends and pets can share precious moments and say their good-byes.

Many families who choose the home setting for end of life need help to keep their loved one comfortable at all times. Our highly trained and compassionate caregivers can provide that additional support in-home so that families can spend as much quality time with their loved one as possible.
We assist in personal care, medication reminders, bedside sitting – round the clock or as needed. Should your loved one be transferred to a hospice facility, we can provide support there too, providing comfort in continuity of care.

Let us know how we can help your loved one live as they intend to the last day.

Joy and Charles Terlesky - Owners

Joy and Charles Terleskyaare the owners of Home Care Assistance Calgary. Together with their combined 32 years of experience in health care, they founded Home Care Assistance Calgary so seniors could live happy, fulfilling lives, safely and comfortably in their own homes. Joy and Charles came to learn about the challenges many families face after both of their grandmothers wanted to maintain their independence and age gracefully at home.

Their own family members had to provide care for their grandmothers. They realized that not all families are fortunate enough to have such loving and committed family caregivers. It is this same level of caring they want to bring to your family. Their aim at Home Care Assistance Calgary is to provide you with peace of mind from knowing your loved one is receiving the most attentive and highest quality care possible.

Joy and Charles consider it their privilege to help you and your family find the care that works best for you.
