The word bunion comes from the Latin “bunion” which means enlargement. A bunion is an enlargement of the joint at the base of the big toe – the metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint. It forms when the tissue or bone at the big toe joint moves out of place forcing the toe to bend towards the others causing a painful lump of bone on the foot.

Flat Feet
Flat feet are a formal reference to when the arch of a foot collapses, with the entire sole of the foot coming into complete or near-complete contact with the ground .Most children will show little signs of an arch until they reach the age of three. There are two types of flat feet, Flexible and Rigid.
Callouses
Callouses are a build up of dead skin and generally form on the heel, on the side of the big toe or on the ball of the foot. The areas can be bulbous, red and protruding or just dry and flaky. Callouses can often take months or years to develop.
Athletes Foot
Athletes foot does not as its name suggests affect only athletes. It is a fungus infection that develops just below the skin and predominately occurs between the toes. If athletes foot remains untreated the infection can spread to the soles of the feet, the toenails and even to other parts of the body through contaminated bed sheets, scratching and clothes.
Verruca and Warts
Verruca are warts that appear on the soles of the feet and are caused by a viral infection in the skin. They most commonly appear on the ball of the foot and are often sore to the touch. Verruca are areas of flat, thick skin with a hard edge around a softer centre.
Corns
Corns are calluses that occur most commonly on the top of the toes although they do also occur on the soles of the feet and between the toes. A corn is a small layer of thick, dead skin that develops to act as padding over skin tissue that has been subjected to excessive pressure.
Cracked Feet
Cracked feet area painful and fairly common problem, and are known as heel fissures. racked heels are mostly caused by dry skin and is further complicated by thick skin around the heel known as callus. Ulcers, callouses and simple skin irritations can be caused by repetitive stress placed on your heels while walking or running.
Ingrown Toenails
hen a toenail is ingrown the skin on the side of the toenail grows over the edge of the nail, or the nail grows into the skin causing swelling, pain and redness. Ingrown toenails are a common condition and are known to physicians as onychogryposis. The most common causes of ingrown toenails are shoes that don’t fit correctly and improperly trimmed nails.
