Chiropractic care is widely recognized as one of the safest, drug-free, non-invasive therapies to correct and prevent joint and muscle pain. Physiomed’s skilled chiropractors will help to restore movement and improve proper alignment in your body, and provide continuing care to keep you feeling your best.
Chiropractic care is effective in treating the back and neck, pelvis and joints. The most common and effective treatment in chiropractic care is the chiropractic adjustment or spinal manipulative therapy. Adjustment is a very safe, painless manual procedure. A skilled healthcare practitioner applies carefully controlled pressure to restore your normal body alignment. Adjustment is effective in decreasing pain, increasing joint mobility and reducing muscle tightness.
Is something keeping your body from moving well? Whether your problem is caused by injury, illness or simple wear and tear, Physiomed is here to speed your recovery with a wide range of specialized treatments including manual therapies, technology-based therapies and prescribed therapeutic exercise programs to reduce your pain, improve your movement and functionality, and get you back to doing the things you love to do.
We all know massage therapy is a great form of relaxation and relief from stress and muscle tension. But did you know that therapeutic massage therapy can be beneficial in treating illness and injury, and is an effective preventive health tool?
Regular therapeutic massage by a Physiomed registered massage therapist can be a valuable element of your health maintenance plan. Massage therapy leaves you feeling relaxed and revitalized, and can help to:
Acupuncture is a safe, non-invasive therapy used to promote natural healing and reduce pain. An ancient form of Chinese medicine, acupuncture has provided effective relief for centuries.
Acupuncture treatment involves inserting a series of specially designed needles into the skin at specific points in the body. Acupuncture needles are very fine, flexible and slide smoothly through tissue so they do not cause bleeding or tissue damage. There is no drug injected through the needles; the presence of the needles themselves provides the stimulation that achieves the beneficial effects of acupuncture treatment. Needles are typically left in place for 15 to 30 minutes.
Acupuncture has been known to provide effective, natural treatment for many conditions, including headaches, back and neck pain, digestive difficulties, anxiety and stress.
Feet are like fingerprints; no two are alike. That’s why a precise prescription for every patient leads to the most effective results. Unlike off-the-shelf arch supports, which do not control biomechanics when walking, custom orthotics improve foot function with every step.
Physiomed’s prescription orthotics are custom moulded from a cast or scan of your feet. Orthotics fit discreetly into most shoes, and are available in styles designed for athletic, casual and dress shoes for men and women. For hockey players and avid ice skaters, we offer custom orthotics specially designed for skates.
Physiomed can help with prescription compression stockings, designed to fit perfectly and exert just the right amount of constant pressure on your feet and legs. Compression stockings work by compressing your veins, arteries and muscles, forcing your blood through narrower channels, increasing pressure and causing more blood to return to the heart, and less to pool in the feet. Compression therapy may also be helpful in reducing or preventing varicose veins. We offer a variety of styles for men and women in several colour choices.
Therapeutic exercise is one of the most effective elements of a rehabilitation program, and is a key component in most Physiomed treatment plans.

Used most often to treat back pain, traction therapy is a passive treatment that uses mechanical force to stretch soft tissue, with continuous or intermittent pulling. Traction therapy uses specialty equipment designed to maximize the effects of gravity.
Traction works by gently pulling the spine in opposite directions, reducing pressure on the discs, and increasing the space from which nerves exit the spinal cord. Traction is beneficial for conditions such as disc prolapses and nerve impingements.
Some Physiomed clinics offer state-of-the-art shockwave therapy, a medical solution to chronic, unrelenting pain. Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy is a new technology that uses shockwaves to treat chronic, painful conditions of the musculoskeletal system. A shockwave is an intense, but very short energy wave traveling faster than the speed of sound.
Shockwave therapy can be used to treat a wide variety of conditions, particularly those involving attachment points for tendons and ligaments in major joints. Shoulders (such as the rotator cuff), elbows (epicondylitis or tennis elbow), hips, and knees (tendinitis or “jumper’s knee) are common sites for Shockwave Therapy.
Vibration Therapy is used to treat and prevent of a variety of illnesses, injuries, and adverse health conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, metabolic syndrome, postural syndrome and joint and muscle instability.
Vibration is a safe and effective exercise therapy designed to help restore strength, mobility and function in people with physical limitations or injuries.
Vibration therapy works by generating rapid involuntary muscle contractions – up to 3000 per minute. Without placing stress on joints and ligaments, these contractions mimic some of the benefits of exercise, but require less effort – a great benefit for those with physical limitations.
