Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient healing practice that dates back at least 2,500 years in China. It is a therapeutic method used to encourage natural healing by balancing Yin and Yang of the body. Acupuncture will reduce or relieve pain and improve function of affected areas. It is safe, effective and is often successfully used as an alternative to medications or even surgery. Relief is often obtained when traditional medical therapy has failed. Acupuncture involves the insertion of several very fine needles through the skin and tissues at specific points on the body. There is no injection of any substance and the treatment itself causes minimal discomfort because the needles are very thin and fine as hair.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping, is a therapeutic technique used in conjunction with acupuncture, acupressure, moxibustion and Chinese herbal medicine. It is one of the common practice in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Cupping was created as a body work treatment by ancient Chinese nearly 3,000 years ago; it tends to improve circulation by bringing fresh blood to the outer layer of the skin. The theory is to dispel "stagnation", regulate the flow of Qi and Blood. Originally, cup was made of animal horn specifically of water buffalo¡¯s horn (Cornu Bubali). 475 B.C. ¨C 221 B.C. cupping was further developed as a means to deliver with acupuncture, acupressure and Chinese herbal medicine, brass, ceramic and bamboo cups were used then. From the last few decades, practitioners have started to use glass, plastic and rubber cups. The cupping cups are roughly bell shaped with diameter of 0.5 to 2.5 inches. Practically, cups are in pairs applied onto the patient¡¯s back in vertical parallel columns, located at acupuncture points along meridians run between the spine and each edge of the body and from cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacrum and coccyx column.

Stone Needle Gua Sha Therapy

Gua Sha is a healing technique used in Asia by practitioners of Traditional Medicine, in both the clinical setting and in homes, but little known in the West. It involves palpation and cutaneous stimulation where the skin is pressured, in strokes, by a round-edged instrument; that results in the appearance of small red petechiae called 'sha', that will fade in 2 to 3 days.

Raising Sha removes blood stagnation considered pathogenic, promoting normal circulation and metabolic processes. The patient experiences immediate relief from pain, stiffness, fever, chill, cough, nausea, and so on. Gua Sha is valuable in the prevention and treatment of acute infectious illness, upper respiratory and digestive problems, and many other acute or chronic disorders.

Five Elements MoxibustionTherapy

Moxibustion is a therapeutic technique used in conjunction with acupuncture, acupressure, cupping and Chinese herbal medicine. It is one of the common practice in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The clinical method employs a burning moxa mugwort (Chinese wormwood, Artemisia vulgaris) directly over the skin at acupoints. Practitioners use moxa to warm regions and acupuncture points with the intention of stimulating circulation through the points and inducing a smoother flow of blood and qi. Moxibustion can be administered in many different ways, known as direct moxibustion, indirect moxibustion and needle moxibustion. The treatment is practically used for common cold, soft tissue damage, multiple sclerosis, menstrual disorder, gastrointestinal disorder and chronic malfunctioned conditions. There are three common moxibustion techniques used in the clinic settings.

Loose Tendon Tui Na Therapy

Tuina is a Chinese word that means manipulation and massage of the human body. Many manipulating techniques have been developed in Tuina in the past few thousand years. They cover a wide range of procedures from the very gentle to the firm or vigorous. Some of these techniques are quite simillar to what the massage therapists, physiotherapists and chiropractors use today. Acupressure is one of these techniques, which gives gentle but firm pressure on some points of the body. As a healing art, tuina is as old as instinct itself - the spontaneous manipulating of a place on the body that is aching, wounded, or tense.
