Most children get really scared when it’s time to visit the dental clinic. It doesn’t come as a surprise since dental clinics are full of sounds that may be strange to kids and new experiences. As a parent, you need to find a friendly and comfortable environment for your child. At Molson Park Dental Office, during that first trip, our main goal is to make your child as comfortable and relaxed as possible. We strive to ensure your child feels welcome and excited about that first visit to the dental clinic.

As soon as you arrive with your child, the initial part of the appointment will focus on getting him/her used to the dental chair. Your child will possibly enjoy riding on the dental chair. As we get your child comfortable, we will engage in a discussion with the parent to get to know their concerns and better understand the child’s dental health needs. For older kids, the dentist will perform an examination while they are seated alone on the chair.

If there are cavities in between your child’s teeth, we may or may not recommend x-rays for an in-depth look at the issue depending on the child’s age. We can discuss recommended treatment and complete your child’s first tooth cleaning if they are willing. We always make essential steps to ensure children are comfortable at the dental office to avoid dental anxiety going forward. In case a dental specialist is needed, we’ll be happy to refer your child to one.
