You get what you think about most of the time.
Don’t be hard on yourself but start now in thinking about what emotions you let off and if it matches how you want to feel ?
you have been annoyed by your child not cleaning up and you think about that annoyance all the time…you will amplify this very action of your child. Versus, if you keep calm by taking a few breathes in through the nose and out through the mouth, repeating the phrase “neutral, neutral, neutral” , and just perhaps sit right on their things or put them outside with no emotions to it. You may find less fight back and you just gave yourself permission to have fun with what was first a stressful battle….and I know first hand that once you stop picking a fight and just solve the problem….the problem or offending person tends to get annoyed and go away. and when you stop picking a fight outwardly and focus more on feeling how you prefer to feel and moving forward with that intention…the person that was feeding off your irritation will tend to leave you alone as you are no longer a fueling their fire”.
