Spinal Decompression

Spinal Decompression Therapy is a non-surgical traction based treatment for herniated or bulging discs in the neck and lower back. Anyone who has back, neck, arm or leg pain may be helped by Spinal Decompression Therapy. Spinal Decompression Therapy has been proven to be effective for the treatment of:

  • Bulging and Protruding Discs;
  • Herniated and Ruptured Discs;
  • Spinal Stenosis;
  • Sciatica;
  • Osteoarthritis;
  • Degenerative Disc Disease;
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome;
  • Facet Syndrome;
  • Scoliosis;
  • Failed Surgery;
  • Cervical Disc Pain;
  • Decreased Range of Motion;
  • Pinched Nerves;
  • Compression Fractures.

Spinal Decompression Therapy treatments are one of the most gentle and comfortable therapies available. Most patients report a mild stretch on their back or hips. The overall result is a very relaxing treatment. Many patients read magazines and listen to music while they are receiving the decompression, and often fall asleep during sessions. Anyone who has back pain or neck pain caused in whole or in part by a damaged disc can be helped by Spinal Decompression Therapy.

Active Release Techniques®

Active Release Techniques® Soft Tissue Management System (ART®) is a manual treatment system our chiropractors use to diagnose and treat soft-tissue injuries. Through this highly effective, non-invasive and drug-free treatment, our chiropractors work the soft tissue by breaking scar tissue and allowing the muscle to function optimally. We are able to diagnose the presence of abnormal inflammation and adhesions by examining the tissue’s texture, tension, and movement. With ART®, We have helped many people to recover from neck and back pain, numbness and tingling, joint pain, carpal tunnel syndrome and numerous other physical ailments, when they thought surgery was the only option.

This system is designed to accomplish three distinct objectives:

  • Restore optimal motion of all soft tissue;
  • To free entrapped nerves, blood vessels and lymphatics;
  • Return proper texture and function of all tissues.

Dr. Strebul is pleased to be the first Chiropractor to bring ART® to Welland and Ridgeway.

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy exposes the cells of the body to light, and particular wavelengths of light are able to produce photochemical reactions, stimulating the cells of the body into producing more energy. This increase in energy levels allows the cells to work more effectively in properly balancing the cellular components so that the cells can function properly. The laser light functions as biochemical energy and improves the efficiency of the body's healing capabilities. The result is that the body is able to heal itself in a shorter period of time.

The benefits of Laser Therapy include:

  • Decreased inflammation;
  • Increased blood flow to the injured site;
  • Decreased pain;
  • Minimized formation of scar tissue;
  • The growth of new, healthy tissues;
  • Applied immediately after an injury;
  • Can be used over metal plates, rods or pins;
  • Decreased need for pharmaceuticals, such as painkillers and anti-inflammatories;
  • Speeds up recovery time.

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave Therapy is a non-invasive, out-patient alternative to surgery for those suffering from many joint and tendon disorders. Shockwave Therapy sends acoustic shock waves into bone or soft tissue, in effect reinjuring the area on a cellular level and breaking up the scarring that has penetrated tendons and ligaments. The controlled reinjuring of tissue allows the body to regenerate blood vessels and bone cells. The resulting revascularization leads to faster healing and often a return to pre-injury activities.

Shockwave Therapy is particularly good at pain management and reduction. The therapy is effective for three reasons: The shockwaves stimulate a metabolic reaction in the affected tissue that causes revascularization of blood vessels; they generate cavitation bubbles that break down calcific deposits; and they induce an analgesic reaction mechanism, which blocks pain messages.
