Many patients who enter a chiropractic office have specific health care concerns ranging from back pain to headaches, leg pain to asthma. It surprises many when they discover that Doctors of Chiropractic don’t treat symptoms. A medical approach is to treat symptoms. This is done by using drugs or surgery to numb, slow down, speed up or cut out the malfunctioning body part. Instead, Chiropractors find the underlying cause(s) of your body’s malfunction, ache or pain, and help correct it.
This means that Chiropractors don’t have an asthma adjustment, a headache adjustment or a back pain adjustment. They adjust the spine as required in every individual person in such a way as to remove the interference to nerves thus allowing your body to function more normally. Of course when nerve function improves and the body is functioning more optimally symptoms improve as a natural consequence.
Proper function, controlled by your nerve system, is the key to health. Fortunately, the proper function of your nerve system is the primary interest of your chiropractic doctor.
A central premise of chiropractic is that vertebral misalignments or malfunctions occur in the spine and can produce interferences in the function of the nerve system which have remarkable and far-reaching effects by impairing the individual’s health and performance. These misalignments are referred to in chiropractic as subluxations, and are corrected with spinal adjustments administered by Doctors of Chiropractic (D.C.’s).
Your nerve system controls and coordinates all the functions of your body. If you interfere with the signals traveling over nerves, parts of your body will not get the proper nerve messages and will not be able to function at 100% of their innate abilities. In other words, some part of your body will not be working properly
It is the responsibility of the Doctor of Chiropractic to locate subluxations, and reduce or correct them. This is done through a series of chiropractic adjustments specifically designed to correct the vertebral subluxations in your spine. Chiropractors are the only professionals who undergo years of training to be the experts at correcting subluxations.
Chinese Acupuncture Treatment Clinic
Acupuncture originated in China over 2000 years ago. It is widely practiced in the western world and even covered by many extended health plans. There are twelve regular meridians in our body. There is “qi” (energy) flowing in the meridians throughout the body. Due to various factors these meridians may become obstructed and there is not enough energy, physical or emotional illness can occur. By inserting very fine needles into specific points along the blocked meridians, the life force or “qi” in the body is stimulated, allowing the body to heal or regenerate itself.
The total number of treatments required depends upon the condition of the symptoms. For acute problems, only a few treatments may be required. For complex or prolonged conditions, more treatments may be recommended. In very few cases, several sessions may be required before improvement is noticed.
