Dr. Scott Emery is the owner and founder of the all new Institute of Movement. He was born and raised in Abbotsford, BC, centred between the Coastal Mountains of British Columbia and the Cascade Mountains of Northern Washington. He grew up skiing and hiking in both of these ranges, which shaped his love and need for being in the mountains from an early age.
He was introduced to Chiropractic and rehabilitation at a young age due to injuries arising from the sports he loved: Hockey, Rugby and Skiing. Through this type of care, he fell in love with anatomical structure, function and biomechanics and was further inspired toward medicine by his mother’s career as an ER nurse. As a result, he decided to attend the University of Victoria pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.
Upon graduation, Dr. Emery followed his love for the mountains and his passion for skiing and mountain biking to the West Kootenays where he began work as a Kinesiologist. He quickly fell in love with the quaint little mountain town of Rossland, BC where he could both live and play in the Monashee mountains that drew him to the Kootenays in the first place. He officially moved in 2003 and has called it home base ever since.
In 2005, Dr. Scott followed his love for sports medicine and rehabilitation by starting Chiropractic school at Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, OR. He graduated cum laude with his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2009, and immediately moved home to Rossland and took over City Centre Chiropractic in Trail, BC.
Now, with 11 years in practice serving this amazing community, he has worked tirelessly to develop and construct his multidisciplinary dream clinic. The all new in.MVMNT sport I spine I wellness (The Institute of Movement) is a modern health facility featuring a skilled healthcare team of Chiropractors, Acupuncturists, Massage Therapists, Naturopaths and Kinesiologists that work together to manage your health collectively.
