Goodbye summer, I miss you already!

It’s that time of year again;

Summer vacations are ending, parents are scrambling to get their children ready for the return to school and all the colourful summer in-store fashions are quickly replaced with warm autumn cardigans and slacks.

I hate to admit it, but summer is quickly coming to an end. It won’t be long until we’re once again forced to pile on the layers and start our weekday mornings scraping the ice and snow off our cars.

After the seemingly never-ending winter of this past year, I find it even more heartbreaking to see summer slipping away.

Don’t get me wrong, I love autumn; the beautiful colours, the perfect brisk temperatures when only a light jacket is needed and the celebrations that come along that time of year. There’s nothing more enjoyable then heading to an outdoor festival on a sunny autumn afternoon, but it’s still sad to see another Canadian summer come to an end.

If you, like so many of us, find yourself a little down at the end of summer, here are some idea’s to keep in mind:

Lot’s to look forward to: Thanksgiving, Halloween, fall festivals and more. There are usually a lot of events and celebrations to look forward to in autumn. Do some research to see what’s going on in your area.

Enjoy the weather: If you’re not into heat, or you’re someone who hates the snow and cold, fall is your perfect season. Outdoor festivals, apple or pumpkin picking or getting out for a hike or bike ride to take in the changing colours, there are endless options to get you and your family outside.

Back to the routine: For most of us, our schedules in the summer become quite easy-going, which is always nice, but for a lot of us, it can be a relief to get back to a schedule. Just make sure you have some fun! Although weekdays return to driving the kids to activities and a more demanding work schedule, make sure you take some time out and enjoy yourself on the weekends.

Don’t worry, be happy: Yes, summer is about to become fall. Not long after that, fall will become winter. Season’s change, that’s life. There’s nothing you can do to change it, so why spend time and energy complaining about it? Although you may prefer the warmer weather, it’s easier to smile and get on with life instead of focusing on the negatives.

Until next time,

Peace, love and vitamin C!
