Do you know there are thousands of different sunscreens out there, literally to fit every personality? Just think of all the types of people you know, and some you wished you didn’t! Thanks to the thinning atmosphere and the increase in cancers, every company that has produced a cream has produced a sunscreen.
80% of skin aging is caused by the sun, so to be sure you are getting the sunscreen protection you need, look at the label. The sunscreen, to be effective should have both UVA and UVB coverage and the SPF should be at least a 30. However, if you are planning to be in the sun for an extended period of time you may find a SPF 50 gives you more protection. People who have sensitive skin, or are prone to rosacea or melasma should definitely wear a SPF 50 or higher. Are you in doors all the time? You can still burn from the sun filtering through the window. An SPF 30 should allow you good coverage.
As indicated earlier, sunscreens come in a variety of delivery systems. There are the chemical or cream sunscreens that most of us are familiar with. There are also the mineral base creams, which are great as they don’t block pores and cause breakouts. To add to that list, there are the mineral, powder sunscreens, which I favor.
Whatever your preference, be sure you find one that you like to use. Otherwise you will find that your sunscreen only stays in your cupboard and not on your Healthy Body, where it belongs!
