As teachers sometimes it’s hard to keep fresh and exciting and invigorated for teaching our classes. It’s not that we don’t love what we do but we are human as well and life happens and we all get tired, so if we get stuck in a rut, well, that can be an energy kill. As such, I invite you to remember that we are all on our own journey and as teachers we learn everyday just like our students. How do I get inspired? By my students. Why? Because I know that they are looking for me to give them guidance. And this is my inspiration…to give my students what they need when they need it. I also get to learn along the way, well it’s a win, win.
No matter where you are in your practice, the key word for inspiration is practice! Why? Because in order to continuing being a responsible teacher, our students need us to be always open to learning new things. How? One way is social media. I know, I know. More pictures on Facebook of dogs doing adorable funny things? Nope. Even I have had enough of dancing dogs and epic fails of trampolines. I’m talking about finding channels that speak to you and inspire you with content that sparks ideas and challenges you to think of new ways to in turn inspire your students. To practice finding new ways to teach and connect.
The great thing about social media (other than the fantastic recipes ) is that it’s so easy to setup an online profile and then share with your students. Nothing beats face to face: ever. I firmly believe that a teacher and student relationship hinges on that personal, one on one time that happens during a class. But we can’t ignore that students are turning more and more to sources of info on the internet. Why not create an online presence that builds your relationship even further AND provides an opportunity for everyHealthy Body to learn?
Since we are all so different, I can teach the same thing in 3 different ways and the third way may resonate with one person, the second with someone else and the first with someone else. To be a teacher we are constantly learning from all around. The benefit of building a resource online for inspiration and information is that we can learn the different ways to reach students. We can reach more people and connect in new ways. How? Because we are learning and making new connections ourselves. Platforms like Pinterest allow you to connect with other like minded “pinners” and learn so much more than you expected. Dancing puppy’s are optional. Your boards, your call.
To be open to learning and finding new ways of doing things, listening instead of talking I find is a great way to absorbed things. Every single human being talks, walks, and smiles in a different way. It is a truly amazing thing that we are all so different. And this is where I get my inspiration from! The world around and the forever differences we all have, I see there are a million ways of doing things and I want to try them all while I am here. And I hope that something that I do helps and inspires someone else, and that they inspire someone and so on.
Let’s all aspire to be inspired! Healthy Look for inspiration EVERYWHERE!
